Artist's Description
This is my painting of a lavender variety field at the Highland Springs Resort. Old farm equipment was positioned throughout the many fields. I was set up in the shade on another very hot day in early July. The plants on the edge of the field were 'done' but I liked their scruffiness as compared to the manicured look of the rows beyond. Cherry Valley, CA July 2014.
About Jane Thorpe
Jane was born and raised in Stratford, CT. Her father was a self-employed commercial artist who worked at home, which gave her access to both supplies and encouragement. She moved to California in 1973. Jane has been an artist all her life, working in different mediums and working at a variety of commercial art jobs. She earned a degree in Fine Art and says there is always more to learn. She started plein air painting in the 1980’s in watercolor. Since 2010, she has focused on plein air painting in oil. She finds that all the mediums she has worked in, all the jobs she’s held, all her life experience, all contribute to this latest passion.
