Artist's Description

Last fall I chose these turban squash along with pumpkins and Indian corn from a local farm stand. In summer we go there for the best corn and tomatoes, and in autumn for fall decorations. This year I was determined to use the turban squash in a still life. I had an idea. My neighbor has displayed these French dolls for years; they make me smile. First I did some thumbnail sketches followed by a watercolor of the proposed composition. It was a fun still life to set up and paint. "Turban Talk."
February 2015.
