This time last year I posted a painting called 'Green Dump Truck, Blooming Yuccas.' I returned this spring to the same location to paint the green and silver dump truck parked directly behind it in the wash. Last year while painting the first truck, curious burros wandered by the fence to investigate; this year it was llamas. I like painting the classic lines of old trucks, and I like painting desert vistas. The addition of animals on site makes the plein air experience all the better. I took plenty of reference photos of the llamas roaming their pasture. Valyermo, May 2015.

Jane was born and raised in Stratford, CT. Her father was a self-employed commercial artist who worked at home, which gave her access to both supplies and encouragement. She moved to California in 1973. Jane has been an artist all her life, working in different mediums and working at a variety of commercial art jobs. She earned a degree in Fine Art and says there is always more to learn. She started plein air painting in the 1980’s in watercolor. Since 2010, she has focused on plein air painting in oil. She finds that all the mediums she has worked in, all the jobs she’s held, all her life experience, all contribute to this latest passion.
