Artist's Description
This is another plein air painting from the "Provence to Beaumont" Paint Out in July. Besides wonderful Lavender fields and Olive groves, Highland Springs Resort has other subjects and vistas to paint. This view is the sheep farm east of the resort; sheep, llama, cows, mountains and slopes. This is a small side access gate. To the right of this location is the 1100 year old Heritage Oak, and is featured in another painting (soon to be posted) titled, "The Guardians." July 2015
About Jane Thorpe
Jane was born and raised in Stratford, CT. Her father was a self-employed commercial artist who worked at home, which gave her access to both supplies and encouragement. She moved to California in 1973. Jane has been an artist all her life, working in different mediums and working at a variety of commercial art jobs. She earned a degree in Fine Art and says there is always more to learn. She started plein air painting in the 1980’s in watercolor. Since 2010, she has focused on plein air painting in oil. She finds that all the mediums she has worked in, all the jobs she’s held, all her life experience, all contribute to this latest passion.
