Artist's Description
This is another Merrill Butler bridge, completed in 1932. "At 3600 feet long, it was the longest concrete bridge in California in its day. It was used in many motion pictures. Unlike the other downtown bridges with concrete arches, the Sixth Street Bridge uses two riveted steel arches." ( Down By the Los Angeles River" by Joe Linton, page 120). This bridge is destined for demolition in 2016 and replacement. Painted in October 2015.
